The Spelling Rule
Changing Y to I and adding ES is the third English plural rule and is used when nouns end in a consonant + Y. Do not use this rule if the word ends in a vowel + Y, such as boy or key. Do not apply this rule to proper nouns or uncountable nouns. When we change Y to IES, it changes the meaning from singular to plural. This plural rule applies to many nouns, but remember there are 7 plural rules in total, so keep learning them all. The spelling rule is taught via a catchy rap song with clear examples.
