Bossy R

Bossy R changes the sound of the vowel that comes before it. The vowel doesn't say its usual sound, instead, the R takes control and creates a new sound, called an R-controlled vowel. Common Bossy R spelling patterns include: AR as in car, OR as in fork, IR as in bird, ER as in fern and UR as in burn.
